If hiking the Appalachian Trail is on your list, you are in luck! Sam's Gap, just 7 miles away, connects you to the iconic Sam's Gap to Big Bald hike. This moderately challenging trail offers stunning scenery and is perfect for hiking, birding, or backpacking. Dogs are welcome on the trail but must be leashed. Mountain Travel Tips: Mountain weather can be unpredictable, especially during winter. We recommend a 4WD or AWD vehicles or tire chains for snowy conditions, stocking up on food, drinks and other essentials in case of inclement weather, and following local weather advisories to stay safe on the roads.
